This webinar is targeted at developers and consultants involved in developing gas fuelled combined heat and power (CHP) schemes. It will cover the basics of gas engine technology and how that should be applied to best effect.
We will discuss integration of CHP systems with existing sites and modelling gas engines with local electrical and heat loads.
We will also consider the cutting edge technologies of trigeneration and quadgeneration that can also deliver cooling and CO2 streams.
We will explore the importance of grid synchronisation, commissioning and the maintenance of the generating sets. The Association for Decentralised Energy’s Policy Manager, Jonathan Graham will be speaking about the industry’s policy requirements. We will also investigate case studies of actual schemes that have been developed successfully in the UK and abroad.

David instils best practice and stringent procedure to Clarke Energy’s award winning service team. His eminent abilities within the UK and Irish markets are being transferred to building successful Clarke Energy service structures in many new territories across the globe.
David’s technical knowledge is second to none, graduating from the prestigious Cambridge University in 2000 where he read Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics He was originally employed as sales engineer, but didn’t take long for the senior management team to recognise David’s potential. Before long, he was promoted to UK Sales Manager, where he was responsible for some of the country’s most prominent commercial CHP schemes including the Shard’s CHP plant. His skill soon earned him a directorship. David is responsible for mentoring newer members of the team, ensuring his knowledge and ability is instilled throughout Clarke Energy.
Head of Policy, Association for Decentralised EnergyView presenter info
Jonathan leads the Association's policy and regulatory development, working closely with members and policymakers to promote the sustainable development of the decentralised energy sector in the UK, including through combined heat and power, district heating, and demand side energy services.
Jonathan previously worked as a senior researcher in Parliament, and he has also worked as a journalist for several North American newspapers and magazines.
Jonathan holds a BA from Tufts University and an MSc in Public Policy from Queen Mary, University of London. He grew up in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada, but has lived in the United Kingdom since 2008.
The combined industry knowledge compared with technical ability will benefit anyone with an interest in the conceptualisation, design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of a successful CHP plant. Clarke Energy has over 1GW of GE’s Jenbacher gas engines installed within the UK. Installations include a diverse range of applications including The National Gallery London, The Shard London, The Natural History Museum, Aberdeen Heat and Power’s and Kings Cross development’s district heating schemes and many public and private sector buildings throughout the UK.
